Who Qualifies To Get A Bursary Or Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application process.

Applications are now open and can shut on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant will have to meet the following requirements:

• Be a South African citizen or copyright who arises from a home which has a combined gross family earnings that does not exceed R350 000 per annum.

• Individuals with disabilities qualify if their combined domestic cash flow does not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and wish not post any evidence my nsfas of earnings.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African citizens and permanent people from homes with combined R350 000 and R600 000 per annum.

Applicants are reminded to provide the correct Identity Document numbers, names, and surname, as reflected in their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds individuals who are studying or intend to research in a public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study nsfas status check in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
